Boise Preventative Dental Care

Preventive Dentistry Is Our Primary Focus

The secret to a beautiful smile is preventative dentistry. Maintaining oral health is easier than repairing it. At Stevens Dental, our goal is to keep your smile healthy so that you never need extensive dental work. We do this by focusing on preventive dental services. Regular cleanings, routine exams, and annual oral cancer screenings will ensure that even if you develop decay or infection, our Boise dentist can treat it before it develops into a major concern.

Preventive dentistry is your best method of avoiding painful or costly dental work—and it’s also the easiest. We believe in promoting patient education. Having the basic information on how to best care for your smile is the first step in maintaining it for life.

We highly recommend that all our patients:

  • Brush a minimum of twice daily
  • Replace your toothbrush at regular intervals—every three to four months is typically recommended
  • Floss your teeth daily
  • Visit Stevens Dental for cleanings and annual exams twice each year

Have questions? We have answers. Contact our office at (208) 504-0968 to schedule an appointment. We offer evening and Saturday appointments for your convenience.

How Preventive Dentistry Keeps Your Smile Healthy

At Stevens Dental, our checkups include an oral cancer screening. During your checkup, the dentist will visually and tactilely inspect your teeth, gums, and soft tissue. He will check for cavities, gum disease, and changes in tissue. This is part of the oral cancer screenings, as well. Any changes in tissue are noted and biopsied, if necessary.

Dental cleanings are performed by our dental hygienist. During these preventive dentistry treatments, plaque and bacteria are removed from the teeth with special dental equipment. Plaque and bacteria are responsible for tooth decay and gum disease and must be cleared away at regular intervals to keep them from causing damage to the teeth, gums, and bone.

If you have any questions about proper hygiene or products that may be more useful for you, preventive dental visits are the perfect time to get answers. Call our office at (208) 504-0968 to schedule your exam or cleaning.
